ooc- just a story that sprouted out of my head randomly, sorry its long, and this is the first story i wrote on my own time, so criticize and comment please!
Alex POV
Alex walked down the street and glanced up as he bumped into someone, muttering a sorry before digging back into his book. It was fairly late and he was surprised someone was out and about, him not included, he thought, chuckling at this. He continued on his way home before he heard a rustling of more than one person’s cloth moving behind him. He stopped and scooped out his phone, marking his book, noting that it was 9:30 and cursed, upset that he had stayed in the library so long, that’s why there are no people! He thought to himself angrily, forgetting for a moment the rustling before he heard it again. Now Alex wasn’t superstitious but he felt a spine tingling cold sweep over him as he felt every pore in his body screaming GET OUT OF THERE! Alex shook himself, shouldering his pack back and started to walk when he heard a feral growl and whipped around right before a wolf slammed into him, sending them both bowling through the sidewalk. He cursed out loud and slammed the thing in the head with his bag filled with all the books he had checked out and sent a blow towards the things groin, feeling it yelp and bend over happy that he was a guy; Alex started to run before ANOTHER smashed into him. What the hell are these things! He thought as he wrestled with the monster, finally happy he had decided to do wrestling but he knew it wouldn’t last. He was short for his age, a mere 5’4, and he was fit, but not fit enough to fend for himself in a fight with something TWICE his size. He felt himself slowly give way and then totally collapsed as the second joined in and he felt a blow slam into his head. He fell to his knees, everything blurry, and slowly reached his hands up to his face, feeling blood on the side of his head and looked up to see the monster had slammed him with a pole. He cursed, the words tumbling slowly from his mouth, and saw the monsters morph into beautiful people, a man and a women and the both looked at each other, the man picked up a walkie-talkie from his side and muttered, “experiment 0194 captured” before everything went black
Alex woke up in a cage, unsure of his surroundings when an antiseptic smell slammed into his nose, followed quickly with the smell of blood and for some reason, a spiky smell that he couldn’t identify before some instinct told him what it was, fear. He blanched at this, wondering how he knew what the smell was, much less how he could smell it. He glanced around, noting the cages around him filled with kids his age and older, some huddled in the corners, other staring ahead into nothing as if they had nothing left to live for, and a very few on the ground, none moving. He wondered if they were sleeping when the sudden realization hit him, they were dead! He slammed his back into the wall, wanting to get as far away from them as possible went he felt a sharp pain course a few inches from his back and into his shoulder blades. He stopped at this, wondering what it was and took off his shirt, slowly reaching for his back when he felt it, feathers. He freaked out and felt the muscles he though never existed flex and shoot out, covering himself with pure brown wings that matched the color of his skin. He shivered at this and chuckled to himself, a smile crossing his face, I had always wanted wings, and here I am with them but im not as happy as I imagined. He glanced around one more time before he felt his cage rattle as keys were pulled in before he heard a click he knew he never would have been able to hear a few days ago and a man in his thirties stood before him in a white coat, coaxing him to come out. For some reason, common sense told him not to believe this guy and he was right, not three seconds after telling him to come out he grabbed him by his hair and dragged him out, ignoring Alex’s yelp of pain. Alex twisted away from the grip and stood up and stood in a stance his instincts told him to and was about to lash out at the man when a huge explosion rocked the building, the shock wave sending the man stumbling and Alex flying. Alex slammed into a wall, dazed, wondering how he had flew so easily and how he felt so light and strong at the same time. He shook the daze off and ran to the origin of the bomb, knowing that it couldn’t have been an accident and saw six bird kids in a huge fight, surrounded by metallic flying machines which kept saying the same thing, you will not escape, we will kill you. He shivered, not sure what freaked him out, the tone or that huge furry machines were fighting kids his age and younger. He heard a voice resound across the whole hall as a girl two years older than him, about sixteen said, “Up and away!” which the flock of bird-kids, not sure how he had decided they were a flock, flew up into the air, followed by a procession of robots and other kids, some who ran at lightning speed, others who shot lighting at the robots and other who just disappeared and appeared a hundred feet away. Alex shook his head, surprised he had been able to judge the distance, much less see it through the dense jungle. He glanced at the six dots that seemed to be getting farther and farther away and decided to follow them and ask for help, hoping they would agree and he shook his wings loose, worried if he could fly, ran forward and up into the air laughing in glee as he stayed afloat for three seconds before dropping. He quickly flapped his wings harder and maintained a certain speed and followed the dots, his mind never straying from telling himself, flap, flap, flap, gliiiide, flap.
Max POV
Max glanced around making sure everything was check “Iggy and gazzy, have the bombs been placed?” She heard a groan from both of them, “For the hundredth time Max, YES! We put our highest explosive; the shock wave should break most of the locks (I know, highly unlikely. But… come-on! Cool right?) and any person in that place who is right in their mind will know that it wasn’t the white coats that made the explosion and swarm all over the place!” Iggy said, gazzy nodding along with him, a wicked smile on his face as he fingered the detonator switch tenderly. Max sighed and rolled her eyes and muttered “Rolling the eyes Iggy.” and turned to see him smiling, his white milky eyes staring right at her. Max smiled and turned to her flock, “Alright, so everything set! Are you all ready?” “Yeah!!!” “Lets blow this joint!” She yelled and turned around, and watched as the huge explosion blew off the whole side of the building and as one, her flock and her raised in unison and flew do the school
Fang POV
Fang landed on the ground with a thud and slammed into the first flyboy he could see, slamming it in the small of the back, felling it collapse and fall to the floor, its eyes dull, and smirked, glad that they hadn’t fixed the problem yet. He glanced around and saw a couple dozen teens running out the building, helping them with the flyboys, zapping them, burning them, and ripping them to pieces, before shooting out of the building and running into the trees, running away from the dreaded School. You will not escape; we will kill you, all the flyboys chimed as one, attacking them more relentlessly, before if they continued they would be overwhelmed. Fang glanced at Max and saw her taking on three flyboys on her one, closely rivaling his four, causing his lips to twitch slightly, to which he would consider a smile. After a second, she felt his eyes on her and glanced up, destroying the three flyboys in front of her and yelled “Up and away!” As one, the whole flock finished off their flyboys, Iggy and Gazzy blowing them up while Nudge and Angled quickly ganged up and destroyed the one that was attacking them and launched into the sky, flying in a V formation and flew away. Fang glanced down and saw streaks of colors of shirts and pants flashing in between trees as dozens of teens ran away. He glanced at Max and nodded, happy to see her smiling as she too looked down and looked back up, smiling at him to, sending his heartbeat up two fold. He kept his face passive and nodded again and watched as she rolled her eyes and looked forward. After two hours of flying she flew back next to him, “You think we should stay in that clearing for the night?” He nodded, and answered, his voice low, husky and controlled, “Yeah, look behind use, angel and gazzy are having a hard time.” She glanced back and nodded and called back towards everyone, “Alright! We are landing for the night!” and did a neat back flip and dived towards the ground, landing in the clearing and motioning this is where they would stay the night. Everyone cheered and swooped down and landed in the clearing, and instantly started to start a camp, all of them going to their own respective jobs. Fang walked over to Max and nudged her slightly, “Good job today.” “You too” she said, smiling back before pulling of her back and setting up the blankets for everyone. After a few seconds she glanced up and frowned, “Fang, go gather firewood and don’t stand their looking into space. Now GO!” She said her face stern. Fang held up his hands in mock defeat and as he turned around to go into the woods heard a loud crack. He instantly turned around and growled, knowing that no one in the flock would make that noise, and glanced around seeing that everyone was in the camp also and were all standing attentive. “Who’s there?” He growled.
Alex POV
Alex gasped as finally the 6 bird-kids flew down towards a clearing after two hours of flying. He slowly flew to the ground and tried to land on his feet unsuccessfully and rolled into a bush and stood up, walking out of the bush, cursing and swiping the needles off of his clothes and wings and started walking towards the camp. As he neared the camp, he saw they had already started a fire and were already setting up blankets for sleep and a tall teen started cooking food, stirring the stew which he was making. The older teen was standing with the olive skinned emo guy and could instantly tell they like each other. He chuckled at this and moved forwards, snapping a twig that resounded with a large crack! He cursed and glanced up, and saw that in one second all of them had moved into fighting positions with feral looks in their eyes. “Who’s there!” He heard the emo boy growl and Alex flinched, shocked at how much venom was in his voice. He glanced around, still surprised that the seven year old girl who was holding a beat up bear was just as scary looking as the other and slowly stepped out, smiling sheepishly. “Just me” He said, waving his arms in hello. Instantly he felt another mind cross his and instinctively thrust it out, not sure how he did it and saw a look of shock in the little girls face. “Hey! Was that you trying to get in my head?” He growled, as he said this, all the older kids stepped forward and growled in unison, glaring at him. The girl turned around and looked at the older girl who seemed to be leader judging how the two older boys surrounded her. “He put up a wall and threw me out on his first try, and from what I gathered, he’s a new experiment.” She said in a sweet young voice. Instantly, the girl answered back, “Is he trouble?” The girl shook her heads and shrugged, I don’t know, I cant get through his mind block. The older boy growled and launched himself at Alex, slamming into him and sending them both rolling. “Who are you and why are you here?” He growled. Alex gasped, pain coursing through him, wondering if this was a bad idea, “Luck, was jumped by a human version of what you were fighting and woke up with wings. Decided to follow you for help. Now answer me, who are you and why did you blow up the building?” He asked and was rewarded with a punch to his face, knowing that he had provoked that and smiled, chuckling to himself, ignoring the pain, “Yeaah, kinda asked for that.” He said and looked up at the teen, seeing anger burning from his eyes. “FANG!” the leader called, “GET OFF OF HIM!” the guy Fang glanced at me one more time before getting up, glaring at me one more time before going back to the bird-kids who had huddled in a group together, tensed, ready for anything. He glanced back at the girl who looked at him with steely eyes and said coldly, “Now, tell me your story and then maybe we’ll tell you ours."
