“Let the dreams fly,
And let the feelings sore.
Let the world turn,
And let the grass grow.
Sing softly, my child,
Daughter of my heart.
And dream, your sweet dreams
Again.
Hush, my baby ,
Sleep soft.
Hold you up high,
Don't give up.
Hush, my baby
Sleep soft.”.
The sweet, melancholy voice of a tall, cloaked figure swept over the fields as the moon sunk through the ground.
Grass whipped around the feet of the grey shadow as she walked slowly, treasuring her last minutes with the bundle that she held in her hands.
Her blue eyes gazed at the bundle with love and affection until a howl broke into the night. It was a long and lonely howl filled with sorrow and pleading in it, as if the wolf the beautiful sound was coming from was begging for someone to come and join it.
Looking around quickly the figure raced across the field, her cloak hiding her feet so that it looked like she was floating across the field.
More howls joined the lone howl and suddenly a chorus of beautiful, lone wolf voices filled the sky.
As the sun broke the dark, sending spirals of light shooting through the sky, the figure stopped and looked at a cave.
A grey and white wolf snored lightly, filling the cave with unearthly sounds as it dreamt.
Taking a quick breathe the figure crouched down and carefully placed the bundle just in the cave.
“Look after her. Care for her. Nurture her. Take her into the pack. Make her a wolf”, she wound the words into the wolf's dreams, bending and twisting through the nightmares, turning thoughts into orders. Creating room for one more in the pack.
I was there when the pack began
This was the prologue for one of my books. It was one of my more original ideas, but I don't think I'll finish it-not with the way I throw ideas away-I really gotta start pushing myself.
Anyway, I just love this one, hope you guys enjoy it!
